Yorkshire C.C.C. annual 1911. Original red cloth with gilt emblem and title to front and spine. To the front endpaper is a moving fourteen line poem, 'Verity', handwritten in ink by the war poet, Drummond Allison. To the inside front cover a note in Allison's hand reads, 'Roger with love from Drummond', and below, in the hand of Roger, 'Drummond Allison's hymn to Hedley Verity (killed in action in Sicily 1943)'. Previously sold by Christie's in 2004. Some staining to boards, slight breaking to internal hinges, otherwise in good condition

John Drummond Allison (1921-1943) was killed in action, aged 22 years old, in Italy just a few months after Verity perished. It is not known whether Allison had met Verity, but clearly took a keen interest in Yorkshire cricket

Complete set of forty six annual issues from 1869 (first issue) to 1914 (forty sixth and final year of issue). Various compilers including G. Kelly King, C.W. Alcock, P. Cross Standing, Charles Plairre, H.L. Bourke, J.N. Pentelow, Sidney Billingham, A. Sinclair etc. All issues bound in original publisher's cloth, with the exception of the 1870 which appears to have been rebound later. The majority with the ownership signature of the writer and collector, R.S. Holmes, also E.G. Wynyard (1901) with handwritten notes of his performances. The 1894 and 1896 issues with the bookplate of J.W. Goldman. Padwick 1155. Odd minor faults, overall in good/ very good condition. Rare to see a complete set of this annual
