'Kentish Poets. A Series of Writers in English Poetry...'. Compiled by Rowland Freeman. G. Wood, Canterbury 1821. Two volumes, of which Volume II comprises fifty pages of works by John Duncombe (1729-1786) including the celebrated cricket poem, 'Surrey Triumphant: or the Kentish Men's Defeat' of 1773, together with the full match scorecard. Both volumes handsomely bound in quarter calf with raised bands to spines, marbled boards and page edges, gilt to spines. Padwick 6387-2. The spine of Volume I appears to have been expertly repaired at a later date, retaining the original spine and boards. Minor rubbing to extremities, otherwise in very good condition
